The Yorktowne Hotel
During the interview process for the York Economic Alliance I was asked to update and refresh the logo for the iconic Yorktowne Hotel. If you’re not familiar with the hotel, the building is a cornerstone of the York City skyline. The Renaissance revival style building was completed in 1925, and embodies the spirit of the roaring 20’s.
I decided to present the prospective interview with both a refresh of the current logo, and a complete redesign. For the refresh, I kept the windowpane feature and updated the accompanying text. For the redesign, I decided to feature the domed towers that sit atop the hotel, alongside a fresh typeface.
